The Ashtead Neighbourhood Development Forum was formed at the beginning of 2013, with the first meeting held in February. In April, the Forum formally applied for designation by Mole Valley District Council.
Mole Valley conducted a public consultation on this application over a 6-week period ending 19th June 2013. Comments were invited from any Ashtead residents who had previously responded to MVDC planning issues, through a press release, posters and via email lists of local organisations. At the council meeting in July, the Ashtead Forum was officially recognised as the sole body responsible for preparing the Neighbourhood Plan for Ashtead, such designation to be valid for five years.
That submission included a list of the then Forum members, a map of the area covered and the constitution agreed by the Forum.
The first meeting of the Forum following designation was held in November 2013.
